Subject: New Joker Edgy Enough?
Hey David and crew, we love what you are doing with the new “Suicide Squad” movie. Reuniting Will Smith and Margot Robbie after their dynamite turn in “Focus” was a stroke of genius. And Jai Courtney as Boomerang? Wow wow WOW!
On the flip side, we have been getting a lot of feedback on Jared Leto’s new Joker, and sadly not all of it is positive. He is very edgy and in-your-face as we requested, but is he edgy enough?
We’ve been brainstorming up here in the marketing department and I think we have come up with some dynamite ideas for making Jared’s Joker the best one yet!
Isn’t about time the Joker lost a hand to Batman and had to replace it with a gun? Then he could issue all sorts of hand-related puns like, “Ooo, isn’t this handy?” and “I’d like to lend you a hand,” just before someone pulls out his fake hand and is shot with the Joker’s gun hand. I think Jared would have a lot of fun with this.
It could also be a knife hand. We aren’t picky.
We can’t have people smoking in these movies as that would be the wrong message to children. No, the Joker should not smoke as he is cutting a man’s ear off and laughing hysterically. But, he could vape. Maybe in his downtime, after he’s just dumped an entire bus full of school children into a river.
Three Words: Insane Clown Posse
When you combine the words “Joker” and “Leto”, it sounds like Jokeleto. That, therefore, sounds like Juggalo. What is a “Juggalo”? A “Juggalo” is a super fan of The Insane Clown Posse. They’re as edgy and scary as clowns come! Look, what we’re trying to say is that The Insane Clown Posse should literally be the Joker’s gang. Just imagine the Batman going undercover at The Gathering of the Juggalos to find the Joker’s secret hideout. That sure sounds swell. And edgy!
Two More Words: More Tattoos
Yes, the new Joker has a number of tattoos, but does he have enough tattoos? There’s mention to his murder of Jason Todd, the second Robin, however we think you need to make it really explicitly clear that he killed Batman’s sidekick. Perhaps we should put a full tattoo of Jim Aparo’s panel of the Joker viciously beating Robin with a crowbar on the Joker’s belly. It would work as a clear sign that this Joker, like Homie the Clown, don’t play no games and work as a clever wink (aka “Easter Egg”) to the fans of the Batman comic book.
A crazy hat may also work. Maybe a menacing fedora or rastacap.
Thanks so much, David. We’re really looking forward to the film!
