Who Ya Gonna Call?

After many years of speculation, director Ivan Reitman has confirmed that Ghostbusters 3 will become a reality. The announcement comes close to the 30th anniversary of the original film’s release in 1984.

Reitman has indicated, “There will be many people from the original cast. Regarding Bill Murray, I have no idea. All the other movies I made with Bill, he never told me was doing it until…well the longest was two weeks. Meatballs, he told me he was doing it the day before.”

Reitman himself will not direct the next movie, but will produce it and assist Sony in identifying a director for the projected 2015 shooting.

The noticeable absence in this sequel will be Harold Ramis. Ramis, who portrayed Dr. Egon Spengler in the first two movies, passed away earlier in 2014 from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. Reitman pointed to Ramis’s passing as one of the main reasons he has recused himself from directing Ghostbusters 3. Ramis was a major contributor to the first two films not only as an actor, but co-writing the scripts with fellow Ghostbuster, Dan Aykroyd. His presence will be missed, and there is sure to be an homage to his enduring legacy with the franchise.

If Someone Asked if Harold Ramis was a God, I’d Say Yes

A groundswell of fan support for a third Ghostbusters installment has been a prominent factor in this movie being made. There is barely a comic convention one can attend without sighting multiple Ectomobile replicas and costumed fanatics sporting their own proton packs.

No word on whether Hi-C will proactively begin marketing Ecto-Cooler again.

We here at Untied are imploring Bill Murray to return to the role of Peter Venkman.

Interesting, because not too long ago, Ivan said that it wasn’t happening. And as for Bill, he wasn’t even remotely thrilled with how Ghostbusters II came out, so I’m very reluctant to believe any of this. Where’s your source?

Here is another article on it. I’m not sure if John used this as a source, though: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/19/ghostbusters-3-to-begin-filming-in-2015-with-a-new-director
